“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11
We were “just friends”…
Evita first met William on January 2020 at a fated Tuesday evening class called Visual Media-I. The first time Evita saw William she found him cute with his floppy curly hair with a fedora hat but that was it. It was William who struck the first conversation and that was the start of everything. What was supposed to be a short talk on the way out from class ended up being a 3 hour conversation that only ended because it was almost 11:30. From staying up late doing homework and playing video games to midnight Whataburger runs, a fast friendship was formed that slowly grew into something more. William asked Evita out on February 16 to be his girlfriend with a cute otter holding a mug that Evita has to this day. Their first date included breakfast at McDonald’s (Evita loved it!), attending church together, trying one of the best ramen spots ever, and ending the day at Books-a-Million — Evita’s very first bookstore experience in the USA. (Fun Fact: Almost all of Evita’s first experiences in the USA are with William!)
For as long as she can remember, Evita has been a romantic who has dreamed about her fairy-tale wedding with her Prince Charming Philip (she loved Aurora the most, are you even surprised?) and an infatuation with visiting the land where dreams come true. Little did she know, her own love story was already beginning to unfold with a very gentle sweet boy from Georgia who comes really close to Prince Philip (except William’s Irish).
They bring out the best in one another, perfectly filling for each other in unexpected ways. William’s steady patience complements Evita’s bright, energetic spirit and her optimism complements William’s realism. Born on the same day, it’s no surprise they share a competitive streak — one that comes out the strongest during board games and video game nights. They love meaningful dialogue, spending hours exploring literature, theology, and philosophy side by side.
God truly wrote our love story
The First Step Towards Eternity
On February 15, William proposed to Evita with three letters: one for the past, one for the present and one for the future. In the first, he reminisced the journey that brought them to this moment. In the second, he cherished their love for each other that grew over the years and in the third, he promised the life yet to unfold — a lifetime of choosing her, again and again.
She answered with a joyful yes.
Now, the 14th, 15th, and 16th of February are a long weekend they look forward to every year — a weekend of remembering where they come from, where they are now, where they will be in the future and the love that envelopes it all.
Evita’s been dreaming about her wedding all her life and now it’s finally coming true with William. We’re truly grateful for each and every family member, friend and loved one who has been there every step of the way watching over us and guiding us through this journey. We can’t wait to create our own little corner filled with Evita’s effervescence and William’s whimsy.
